Short Round Elongated skull of A Native American

While many are familiar with the elongated skulls discovered in Peru, few realize that such skulls have been found worldwide. In fact, I have uncovered numerous reports in historic U.S. newspaper archives documenting discoveries of elongated skulls, though surprisingly, none of these skulls can be located today. This particular article stands out because it includes a rare image. I plan to share more of these findings over time, but this one is unique—not for a typical long, narrow skull, but for a short, broad, almost heart-shaped skull. Interestingly, skulls matching this description have also been found in Peru. This discovery in the U.S. reminds me of a video I made some time ago about the excavations at the Serpent Mound site in Ohio.
Some time ago, I made a video exploring Frederic Ward Putnam’s extensive archaeological work at Ohio’s famous Serpent Mound. During his investigations, Putnam uncovered a range of distinct skull shapes within the nearby burial mounds. He identified these skeletal remains as belonging to two primary groups: those with elongated skulls, and others with short, broad, and rounded crania. Based on Putnam’s descriptions, it’s clear that when he referenced “short, broad round heads,” he was specifically describing this latter category observed during his excavations.
Is this what Putnam was talking about?
