Minnesota Mound site locations.

Over the past couple of years I’ve been quietly digging through old Minnesota newspapers, page by page, pulling out every forgotten reference to mounds, earthworks, and ancient burial sites I can find.

This is the result: a personal collection of rare historic maps, hand-drawn surveys, and pinpointed locations of Minnesota’s lost mound culture, many of which were documented in the 1800s and early 1900s, then slowly faded from memory as farms and towns spread across the state.

Some of these sites are still visible today, others are gone forever, plowed under or flooded by reservoirs, but the old articles and plat maps don’t lie.
