Mexico's Giant Guardians: The Forgotten Pyramid of Multipec

"Twelve miles northwest of Multipec village in Guadalajara state, Mexico, sprawls one of the Western world's most enigmatic ruins—a vast ceremonial complex dominating a 25–30 acre plateau, elevated 500 feet above the surrounding valleys and framed by the Sierra Madre's snow-capped peaks.
At its core rises a colossal pyramid: 300 feet square at the base, soaring 140 feet high with symmetrical lines rivaling ancient Thebes or Persepolis. A broad eastern doorway—27 feet wide, 9 feet high, crowned by a perfect arch—leads into shadowed mysteries.
Flanking the entrance stand two monstrous sphinxes, half man, half beast, carved from granitic sandstone. Each measures 7 feet high and 10 feet long, perched on marble pedestals 4 feet high and 12 feet wide, covered in undeciphered hieroglyphics. They guard a labyrinth below like dragons at the Hesperides' gates.
Before each sphinx rise twin marble pillars, 40 feet tall and 5 feet thick, bearing 7-foot carved figures with serene, noble features. The male clasps an upward scepter; the female wields a wand toward the temple. Hieroglyphs climb from base to capital, hinting at forgotten narratives.
Inside, the main chamber stretches 53 by 90 feet, walls alive with bold relief sculptures and faded colorful hieroglyphs. Twelve marble pillars line the central aisle, etched with strange motifs. A 14-by-25-foot marble tablet dominates one wall—a reclining woman of perfect form beneath a sun symbol, flanked by towering columns of script awaiting a modern Champollion.
Before it sits an 8-foot square altar block, concave for offerings, inscribed top to bottom. Four doors open to burial chambers—120 niches total, each 11 by 3 feet, now empty of bones but whispering of vanished priests and kings.
Captain Richard Stewart, who explored the site recently, noted the terraced 285-foot hill accessed by 320 worn stone steps, grooves deep from countless giant footfalls. Local tradition insists "gigantes" built it—industrious builders of cities, clad in wool and silk, their canals still scarring the valleys.
Everything—the scale, worn thresholds, massive sphinxes—screams builders of extraordinary stature. Who carved these colossi amid the Sierra Madre, leaving undecoded secrets and empty tombs?"
Some times even I have a hard time believing these stories. I tried to find out what the name was of this ancient site and could not find any information. This might be one of those made up stories, but then again you never know for sure because stranger things have turned out to be true.
How did giant pyramid-builders vanish from Mexico's high plateaus, leaving only worn steps and silent sphinxes? The only way to uncover these ancient truths is to keep CAMPing and Xploring the mysteries of our world 🔥⛺
